Applicants are now invited to apply for Fully-Funded Chinese Government Scholarship 2020 at the University of Science and Technology China USTC, in order to avail full scholarship in Masters and Ph.D degree programs.

Chinese Government Scholarship is a fully-funded scholarship established by the Ministry of Education to support Chinese universities by recruiting outstanding international students to study in China. University of Science and Technology China recruit full-time master and doctoral students under the Chinese Government Scholarship that cover all their major expenses.

International students can apply for Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) or Chinese Govt Scholarship in many Chinese universities at the same time, however, a separate CSC Scholarship application must be fill online and separately be submitted to each university. This is really a great opportunity for students who want to acquire their masters and doctoral degrees abroad.

Scholarship Benefits:

Chinese Government Scholarship USTC covers all the expenses of selected candidates so that no extra expense burden will be impose on them. Scholarship provides:

1.Tuition waiver

2.Free Accommodation (off or on campus):

In case of off campus, the university will provide monthly accommodation subsidy/living allowance to students i.e. CNY 700 per month for Master’s students, and CNY 1000 per month for doctoral students. While on campus, university will provide twin room to selected candidates in university dormitory.

3.Monthly Stipend:

For Master’s students: CNY 3,000 per month

For Doctoral students: CNY 3,500 per month

4.Comprehensive medical insurance

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Students from any nationality are eligible to apply, however, applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.
  2. They must be mentally and physically healthy.
  3. Must not be a registered student in Chinese universities at the time of application, or not be a graduate from Chinese universities for more than 1 year.
  4. Should have good command on English or Chinese so that able to take courses in these languages.
  5. Age limit for applicants of Master scholarship: under the age of 35, Age limit for applicants of Ph.D scholarship: under the age of 40.
  6. Degree required for applicants of Master scholarship: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent to bachelor’s degree in China, Degree required for applicants of Ph.D scholarship: Master’s degree or equivalent to master’s degree in China.

Important: For the graduates to obtain their degrees in 2020, they should submit a Pre-graduation Certificate to ensure that they’ll complete their study and obtain the degree by July of 2020.

Note: Students who have been granted for other Chinese scholarship or funding(2019-2020) cannot apply for this scholarship.

Required Documents:

Required documents to apply for the scholarship are:

  1. Online Application form for CSC Scholarship.
  2. Recent Photographs.
  3. Photocopy of Passport (ordinary passport with validity of at least 1 year).
  4. A study or research proposal (no less than 800 words).
  5. Resume/CV.
  6. Two letters of recommendation (written by full professors or associate professors with their phone number and email address).
  7. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (download by clicking the link:

Applicants for programs instructed in Chinese but do not apply for one-year Chinese language courses, must provide the photocopy of HSK certificate (at least level 4) or other proof of their Chinese language proficiency. While, applicants for programs instructed in English must provide the photocopy of valid IELTS or TOFEL result or other proof of their English proficiency (except those whose mother tongue is English).
  9. Photocopy of degree certificate and academic transcript for both Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree (if have) notarized by Ministry of Education or equivalent authority in your country.

Important: Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

How to Apply(Step-wise guideline):

Applicants must be finish each of the following steps as required and before the specific time.

Step 1:

  1. Applicants first have to Log on the on-line application system to do an on-line registration on CSC portal. Go to link:
  2. After logging, please choose Type B and fill in 10358 as agency code for USTC.
  3. After filling in the application form online, applicants must click the “submit” button and print out application form in the application system.
  4. Sign and put a recent photo on the application form.
  5. Scan the application form and upload it later on USTC application system.

Step 2:

Apply online by clicking the link: Detailed steps are given as under:

  1. Create your online application ID with a valid email account and input a password of your own. You will receive a confirmation email.
  2. Log on your application ID and fill in all the information and upload required documents. The online application can be accessed and edited as many times as you like before the deadline of application (March 15, 2020). Your information will be automatically saved once you click “NEXT” when you finish each step.
  3. Submit your application form by clicking “Confirm and Submit” upon completion. Note: Once your application pass “file review”, your information CANNOT be changed.
  4. You can click “Status” in the Quick Links to check your application status.

Step 3:

After applying online, applicants must submit application materials to Office of International Cooperation of USTC by post mail or in person (application materials submitted by email will not be accepted). Application materials arriving after April 10, 2020 will not be accepted.

Deadline To Apply:

  • 15 March, 2020

Application Procedure:

  1. USTC will review all the applications submitted before the deadline. Decisions for admission and granting the scholarship will be made on the basis of: applicants’ academic record, research abilities and other aspects related.
  2. The list of nominated candidates will be sent to China Scholarship Council (CSC) for review in May, 2020.
  3. After the name list is approved by CSC, the scholarship awardees will be notified by USTC and admission documents will be posted to the awardees in July.
  4. New school year shall start in September, 2020. The specific date of registration will be written on the admission notice.
